Advice in buying from ELF cosmetics

So as you might have noticed, I am quite the ELF cosmetics fan. From being an affordable alternative and being good quality, ELF is good for those that wants to build their kits or even food for beginners. But who doesn't want to save money, even if you are buying from their low low prices eh?

1) Always check for coupons before you pay for anything/ choose anything. Coupons usually have restrictions.

-go to retailmenot to check the recent coupons
http://www.retailmenot.com/view/eyeslipsface.com
or
-go to http://www.elfcosmetics.com/ and subscribe to their newsletter

2)For canadian buyers, always use a Paypal account to pay. When you pay for shipping, it would only be the flat rate of $6.95 and not $15. I don't know why, but it is like that.

3) There is ALWAYS a good coupon code, but there is the best sale that only happens once a year. It used to be 75% off sitewide, but this year it was only 60% off. It isn't bad though ^^.

4) If anything goes wrong with your order, anything break or yeah...whatever is wrong, then just go to customer service and tell them what is wrong. Most of the time, they will refund your money but you can also request to get the product sent to you again.
*Note: I have never had any problem with ELF customer service. They are very very respectful for their customers and are very polite and understand. THUMBS UP FOR ELF CUSTOMER SERVICE! Even if they have to listen to people complain all day. If there was an award for best customer service for online shopping, they totally deserve it.*
Hope this helps and Happy shopping at elf.

ELF studio complexion perfection

Yes...the complexion perfection. This has been quite hyped up on Youtube too. I bought this a while back and I had to say my first impression wasn't very good.
ELF Company Claim: "Create a balanced and radiant complexion that is beautiful and healthy. The lightweight formula evens out the skin tone and absorbs excess oil. The sheer formula brightens, mattes and neutralizes the skin. The colors are meant to be blended together as the Blue neutralizes orange, the Green neutralizes red, the Pink neutralizes grey and the Yellow brightens and neutralizes red. "

-balanced complexion? Hmm... well see
-lightweight? so so
-absorbs excess oil? Yes
-brightens, mattes, neutralizes: Yes
Just like elf's claim, you can use these separately or swirl them together. On the color wheel, green is the opposite of red, which means it counter acts redness. But i don't think there is ever orange on my skin...unless you spray tan too much xD. I use the yellow and pink together to counter act purple/ under eye circles.
One of the bad thing is that the powder makes my face a little too white, so unlike the Make Up forever HD powder, it doesn't leave a translucent finish. But don't worry, it doesn't look yellow/green/blue/pink after applied.
The powder itself is nice and silky; pressed quite well too. As for balancing redness, I have quite a bit of redness around my cheeks and my nose. After I used this powder, it didn't balance the redness. I was quite disappointed but it did work for small pimples. So I guess, it does counter act redness, but not the skin deep kind XD...if that made any sense.

ELF studio Contouring Blush and Bronzer Powder

OH MY GOSH =O IS THAT WHAT I THINK IT IS! Finally after watching a lot of people's youtube videos of elf hauls, I got my own BLUSH AND BRONZER!!
OHH pretty...well this (like all the other ones) come with a really nice high quality mirror. The packaging itself is just like the NARS cases but not rubberized.
ELF company claim: "Create a healthy and natural glow all year long. The Blush highlights the cheeks to add a flush of color, while the Bronzer accents and contours cheekbones for beautiful definition."
-yes, yes and YESSS~~ all of the above

Up close in person (or computer). Both these colors are compared to NARS orgasm and laguna to death, no joke. The powders are nicely pack and not loose like the regular line.

Blush under natural light

Under flash light.
The blush itself is a nice sheer pink (it is buildable don't worry) with a slight hint of coral and fine golden shimmer. When applied to the face, it gives a nice healthy glow to the cheeks.
Bronzer under natural light.
Under natural light.
Bronzer is also more to the sheer side with very fine gold shimmers but when applied to the skin,

the shimmers are not noticeable.
Swatches in nature light.

ELF Studio Bronzer in Cool and Warm

Where can you get it?

Recent Working Coupons?

ELF Company claim: "Create a healthy looking glow all year round! The sheer soft powders provide the perfect hue of color. Blend all 4 colors together to achieve a blend of perfection or choose your favorite color or colors to mix, match and blend.

-yes it creates a heatly glow

-sheer? I think NOT! (its a good thing though)

-yes you can mix, match and blend

Warm Bronzer- The warm shimmer that will bring a glow to your face. Ideal for summer or year-round.

Cool Bronzer- The ideal selection of matte colors to achieve a natural looking tan. Ideal for winter or year-round."

Cool Bronzer

The lid of the bronzer & the name

Just like the other bronzers and the blush/bronzer, the packaging is similar to NARS but without the rubberized feel. Each product are only $3, but when studio coupons come around then it would only be $1.50. Basically how these bronzers work is there are four different colors, and you can either use it seperately or swirl it together. The colors and finishes of the cool bronzer is matte. The product itself is somewhat chalky but to a minimum. Beacause this is very pigmented, you really have to use a light hand (i'm not kidding). The first time i used it, I took too much and it look like dirty on my face. So you should use a skunk brush just in case.

White- use as a highlight for cheekbones and...well highlights

Brown- Bronzer? xD

Dusty rose color- a really nice rose color; can be used as a blushSwatches in flash.

In natural light.

Conclusion for cool bronzer

-Price: A+ (only $1.50 or $3)

-Packaging: A

-Product Quality: A-

-Overall rating: A
-Buy again?: Maybe

Warm Bronzer

Unlike the cool bronzer, the warm bronzer can be used with a light or heavy hand and it wouldn't matter as much. It gives you a nice "healthy glow" and can be used as a blush or bronzer. Just like the other one, this can be a little, tiny bit dusty so dab and don't swirl too hard.

Unlike the cool bronzer, the warm bronzer has a shimmer/ frosty finish. This one consists of a golden color, peach/pink color, bronze color and a light yellowish golden color. When i swatched each of the colors, immediately I noticed its less of a bronzer when you use just one and better to use as eyeshadows.
Swatches in Flash

In daylight.

Conclusion

-Price: A+ ($1.50 - $3)

-Package: A

-Product quality: A

-Overall rating: A

-Buy again? Maybe ( i have a lot of bronzers)

ELF Studio Kabuki Face Brush

I'm on a roll xD....another Elf review as promised. This time, as what is written on the title, the infamous Kabuki Face Brush.
Company claims: "This new anti bacterial, synthetic haired Taklon brush is softer and more absorbent and can be used with wet or dry products. Be a professional makeup artist and create a flawless look with this e.l.f. studio brush! Our handy and easy to use Kabuki Brushes provide a light to full coverage on your face or body to ensure a flawless finish. The compact brush is perfectly sized to allow for precise and controlled application of bronzer, powder, or a highlighter on your skin.*Vegan Friendly"
-Yess it is synthetic haired Taklon brush
-Yess it is uber duber soft
-wet products? This is what it comes...the packaging if you wil.
Being the werid me, I compared if the brush would be the same size as the image on the box.
Its the same size =O; what you see is what you get. No, it is not duo fiber, its just dyed black on the top part while the rest is white hairs.
The brush handle is a good size to put in your palms/ hands to do the brushing or buffing motion. I honestly thought that the brush would be 2 times more dense, but its not bad overall.
Compared to my Ecotools kabuki, the ELF one looks like a GIANT! BOOM!
It picks up product quite well, almost the same as how powder is picked up from my Ecotools one. BTW natural hairs pick up product better then synthetic hairs. Synthetic hairs are good for liquid foundation or concealer and what not.
Thats pretty darn dense there!
Birds eye view. From the top picture, it looks as though both are the same size. EVIDENCE! to prove you wrong. ELF one is pretty big, almost the size of my whole cheek area.
Conclusion:
-Price: A+
-packaging: B
-Product: A
-Overall rating: B+
-Buy again?:Maybe
